Butterfly Words is a danced reading freely inspired by the illustrated book “Grandma and the Butterfly Words”: a gentle and intense story that speaks to children about memory loss caused by Alzheimer’s Disease with the delicacy of a wingbeat.
On stage, the narrating voice weaves words that become images and transform into dance. Memory unravels like threads of light, but emotions remain suspended in the air, like butterflies that keep on flying.
Contemporary dance pays homage to the choreographic research of Loïe Fuller: the body expands through fabric, light and breath, evoking the poetry of the ephemeral. Gestures become veils, trajectories draw landscapes of the mind where words get lost… yet leave luminous traces.
