UNI-TANZ Campus

UNI-TANZ is an international cultural exchange platform focused on the theme of dance

The project was created and organized by Roman Arndt and Giorgia Maddamma with the aim of promoting and developing a serious and profound educational process for higher education in the field of dance in Southern Italy, at Lecce.

It is important to focus on the learning process of dance education and lay the foundations for a future in higher education that offers young people the opportunity to reach the highest levels in their development as artists. Additionally, we encourage students to perfect skills and bring knowledge back to their home country. Thanks to the Uni-Tanz project, an active collaboration has developed between neighboring countries. With clear goals, we will reach new avenues for international themes in dance. Uni-Tanz offers a rich opportunity to discuss current strategies for necessary development in dance and dance education. Collaborations and presentations of work projects aim to outline the path to follow, the contents and the organization of professional training in the art of dance today.

Uni-Tanz consists of an intensive week or weekend programme, offering technique classes, dance workshops, dance theory lessons and performances in city festivals and site-specific venues.

The professors and choreographers Malou Airaudo, Roman Arndt, Stephan Brinkmann, Rodolpho Leoni, Giorgia Maddamma, Susanne Linke, Henrietta Horn, Johannes Wieland, Fernando Suels Mendoza, Mark Siezkarek, Kenji Takagi, Marigia Maggipinto, Nina Dipla, Tamas Morics, Aida Vainieri, Thusnelda Merci, Pascal Merighi, Francesca Falcone, Alejandro Russo, Sonia Stomeo, Antonio Farì, Cristian Bevilacqua, Marco Bardoscia, taught various dance technique classes and choreographic workshops, history of dance, Laban notation, music, Gyrokinesis, Feldenkrais and art classes during the various editions of the contemporary dance campus.

UNI-TANZ 2026

UNI-TANZ 2026 – XIV Edition / on tour Foggia is an event of the International Campus of Contemporary Dance promoted by Koreoproject in collaboration with Teatro dei Limoni, in programma al Teatro Umberto Giordano by Foggia dal 3 to 6 September 2026.
The project includes a choreographic workshop with Daphnis Kokkinos, dancer of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, and contemporary technique lessons with Giorgia Maddamma.

The September 5th is expected Nelken Line of Pina Bausch in the center of Foggia with participants on campus.

The September 6 the program ends with the show “Dance Evening/Guests” of the Koreoproject Association and with the final return of the route.

UNI-TANZ 2025

UNI-TANZ 2025 – XIII Edition / America Repertoire is an event of the Campus and International Festival of Contemporary Dance organized by Associazione Koreoproject, in collaboration with some Barletta dance schools.

Scheduled from 25 al 27 luglio 2025, the event offers workshops of Tecnica e Repertorio Graham with Blakely White McGuire and of Tecnica e Repertorio Limón with Daniel Fetecua Soto.

The 27 luglio the journey ends with final return of the participants and with the duo “The Tongue of the Flame”, performed and choreographed by the two artists.

UNI-TANZ is organizing an intensive weekend at Barletta from 25 to 27 July, dedicated to the repertoire of Martha Graham and José Limón, two fundamental figures of American Modern Dance.

I docenti ospiti sono Blakeley White-McGuire e Daniel Fetecua Soto.

Blakeley is a dancer and choreographer from Louisiana, former principal dancer of the Martha Graham Dance Company, internationally awarded and described by the New York Times for her powerful technique. Authorized to re-stage Graham’s works, she teaches at prestigious institutions such as The Ailey School and NYU, and is the author of the book The Martha Graham Dance Company: House of the Pelvic Truth (Bloomsbury, 2022).

Daniel is a Colombian dancer, choreographer and teacher, former soloist of the Limón Dance Company for ten years. Master of the Limón technique, he directs two of his own companies and the LATITUDES DANCE FESTIVAL in New York, a platform for the promotion of Latin American and indigenous dance. He teaches at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

The two artists collaborate together on the project C.A.V.E.S., on national and international tour.

UNI-TANZ 2024

UNI-TANZ 2024 – XII Edition / Weekend Lab is an event dedicated to contemporary dance promoted by Koreoproject to Mesagne, from 12 to 14 April 2024, in collaboration with Gruppo E-Motion and the Liceo Coreutico E. Ferdinando, with the support of Porta d’Oriente / Res Extensa.

The program combines training and scene: the April 12th and 13th si svolge un choreographic workshop with Giorgia Maddamma e Francesca La Cava at the Coreutico High School.

The April 14, al Municipal Theater of Mesagne, the journey ends with an evening of entertainment featuring “The Time of Nine”, the return of the workshop e “Shocking”.

UNI-TANZ 2023

UNI-TANZ Lecce 2023 – XI Edition is an event dedicated to contemporary dance promoted by Koreoproject at Lecce, from 4 to 17 September 2023, at Cantieri Teatrali Koreja, in collaboration with Folkwang Universität der Künste and Teatro Pubblico Pugliese, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Region Puglia.

The program combines training and scene: from 4 to 9 September a campus will take place with contemporary technique and choreography workshops with Malou Airaudo and Giorgia Maddamma. On 9 September the final evening presents the participants’ performances with guest artists, followed by a conference on the language of Teatrodanza with Malou Airaudo and Dominique Mercy.

From 15 to 17 September the Weekend Lab, in collaboration with Centro Arte Danza Brindisi, offers choreographic workshops with Giorgia Maddamma and Francesca La Cava. On 17 September, at the Chiostro dei Teatini as part of “Lecce in Scena”, the final evening presents the return of the workshop, “Recomposed”, “The Time of Nine” and “Shocking”.

UNI-TANZ 2022

UNI-TANZ Lecce 2022 – X Edition is an event dedicated to contemporary dance promoted by Koreoproject in Lecce, from 29 August to 3 September 2022, in collaboration with Folkwang Universität der Künste and the Liceo Artistico Choreutico of Lecce, with the support of the City of Lecce and the Region Puglia.

The program combines training and scene: from 29 August to 2 September the campus will host workshops held by Stephan Brinkmann (Director of the Folkwang Institute of Contemporary Dance), Clémentine Deluy (dancer of the Sasha Waltz Company and Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch), Juan Kruz Diaz de Garaio Esnaola (choreographer and dancer of the Sasha Waltz Company) and Giorgia Maddamma (teacher at the National Dance Academy).

On 3 September, at the Chiostro dei Teatini, the journey ends with the show UNI-TANZ Dance Evening-Guests alle ore 21:00.

UNI-TANZ 2021

UNI-TANZ Lecce 2021 – IX Edition is an international contemporary dance campus promoted by Koreoproject to Lecce, from 30 August to 4 September 2021, in collaboration with Folkwang Universität der Künste and the Liceo Artistico Coreutico Ciardo Pellegrino, with the support of the City of Lecce and the Region Puglia.

The program combines training and scene: from 30 August to 2 September the campus will host lessons and workshops held by Daphnis Kokkinos (Director of the National School of Dance of Athens and dancer of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch), Eva Lopez Crevillen (Director of the Conservatorio Superior de Dança of Madrid and dancer of the Nacho Duato Company), Rodolpho Leoni (teacher Folkwang Universität der Künste and Artistic Director of the Folkwang Tanz Studio Company) and Giorgia Maddamma.

On September 3, in Piazza Duomo, the campus opens to the city with the Nelken Line by Pina Bausch at 8.00 pm. On September 4th, at Cantieri Teatrali Koreja, the final evening UNI-TANZ Dance Evening-Guests presenta Addio Addio Amore, by and with Daphnis Kokkinos, homage to Pina Bausch, the performances of the participants on campus and those of the Liceo Coreutico Ciardo Pellegrino.

UNI-TANZ 2020

UNI-TANZ Online 2020 – VIII Edition is the international contemporary dance campus promoted by Koreoproject, which took place in online format from 1 to 8 September 2020, in collaboration with Folkwang Universität der Künste, the National Dance Academy of Rome and the Liceo Coreutico Ciardo Pellegrino of Lecce, with the support of BioSud and Merighi Mercy.

Due to anti-Covid restrictions, the edition took place entirely on the web, offering contemporary technique lessons with Giorgia Maddamma and Pascal Merighi (dancer of Tanztheater Wuppertal of Pina Bausch since 1999) and choreographic workshops with Thusnelda Mercy (founder of the Trio CDT together with Clémentine Deluy and Damiano Ottavio Bigi) and Aida Vainieri (stable dancer of Tanztheater Wuppertal since 1991).

The campus ended on 8 September with a final live web meeting with teachers, students and guests.

UNI-TANZ 2019

UNI-TANZ Lecce 2019 – VII Edition is the international contemporary dance campus promoted by Koreoproject to Lecce, from 26 to 31 August 2019, in collaboration with the Folkwang University of the Arts of Essen and with the support of institutions such as the Cantieri Teatrali Koreja, the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese, the Goethe Institute of Rome, the NYU Tisch School of the Arts, the National Dance Academy of Rome and the Tito Schipa Conservatory of Lecce.

The central moment of the edition was the Nelken Line by Pina Bausch, created with the rights of the Pina Bausch Foundation and led by the former dancer of Tanztheater Wuppertal Marigia Maggipinto. The participants on campus, together with numerous Italian and international artists, performed the famous sequence of movements taken from the “Nelken” show in the historic center of Lecce.
