The “Nelken Line” is a project of the Pina Bausch Foundation: “Dance! The Nelken Line”, which invites you to stage the choreography and music taken from the famous piece “Nelken”.

Groups from all over the world created the Nelken Line, crossing different landscapes, repeating the movements of the “Dance of the Seasons”, to the tune of the famous song “West End Blues” by Louis Armstrong & His Hot Five. The “lines” are a recurring and characteristic element in many pieces of Pina Bausch, sequences of movements with repetitive steps and gestures that the dancers perform while standing in a long queue, often crossing the lines of the audience and involving them emotionally with their smiles.

Koreoproject organized the Nelken Line with the rights of the Pina Bausch Foundation during the 7th edition of the Uni-Tanz Dance Campus in 2019. All campus participants took part in the line, reconstructed and led by former Bausch dancer Marigia Maggipinto. Many other well-known Italian and international artists joined the event in the historic centre of Lecce.
