Rien de Rien is a dance concert that brings to the stage the repertoire of Edith Piaf through a dialogue between movement, voice, and music, uniting two choreographic creations — Piaf and Marlene — in a single evening.
Two iconic twentieth-century figures, two tormented lives, two ways of being women: Edith Piaf and Marlene Dietrich meet in a choreographic dialogue between shadow and light, between frailty and strength.
Piaf is a creation by choreographer Lucas Hoving, conceived in 1986 for American performer Alice Condodina and passed on to Giorgia Maddamma so that she might inhabit and reinterpret it. A piece steeped in history, transmitted from body to body, from generation to generation.
Marlene is a choreographic creation by Giorgia Maddamma and Sara Bizzoca, performed by Sara Bizzoca, inspired by Marlène Dietrich: a fascinating, contradictory figure, icon of ambiguity and freedom.
